Al-Awda vessel to sail from Norway to Gaza mid-May

Sunday 22-April-2018

The Freedom Flotilla Coalition on Sunday announced that al-Awda vessel is set to leave Norway toward Gaza on 15th May to mark the 70th anniversary of the 1948 Nakba.

The Coalition said in a statement published by the International Committee to Break the Siege that the vessel will sail among a new campaign to break the siege on Gaza which will be launched from northern Europe under the slogan “for a just future for Palestinians”.

Zaher Birawi a founding member of the Freedom Flotilla Coalition said that this year’s campaign to break the siege will have special significance because it will be launched in conjunction with the peak of the Great March of Return in Gaza which demands the return of all Palestinian refugees to their lands from which they were expelled in 1948.

Deputy chairman of the Humanitarian Relief Foundation in Istanbul Huseyin Oruc said in a press statement that the new campaign is intended to raise awareness about the suffering of the Palestinian people in Gaza under unjust and inhumane blockade and express support for the Palestinian refugees’ right of return.

The ship is scheduled to visit some European ports in Britain Italy Spain and Greece before heading to Gaza.
