Al-Hayya pushes for mass rallies across flashpoints with Israeli army

Wednesday 3-May-2017

Political bureau member of Hamas Khalil al-Hayya called on the Palestinian anti-occupation youth to intensify presence across all flashpoints with the Israeli army in the West Bank in support for the Palestinian hunger strikers in Israeli jails.

Speaking with PIC on the sidelines of a sit-in tent set up in Gaza in support for the hunger strikers al-Hayya urged the Palestinians to step up confrontations with the Israeli occupation army in an attempt to draw Israel’s and the world’s attention to the mass hunger strike.

Some 1700 Palestinian detainees have joined a collective hunger strike in Israeli lock-ups more than two weeks ago to protest mistreatment and infringement of their basic rights.

The Israeli prison authorities stepped up crackdowns on the hunger strikers subjecting several among them to exhaustive inter-prison transfers family and lawyer visit-bans solitary confinement and medical neglect.
