Al-Khudari calls for launching job-creating projects in Gaza

Wednesday 10-October-2018

Head of the Popular Committee Against the Siege Jamal al-Khudari on Tuesday said that launching new projects in the Gaza Strip would be the most effective way to overcome the collapse on the economic and humanitarian level.

MP al-Khudari in a press statement affirmed that these projects would create work opportunities for dozens of workers and new graduates.

Al-Khudari added that the new projects would alleviate the growing poverty and unemployment rates in the Gaza Strip especially that 85% of Gaza residents live below the poverty line 70% of Gaza youths are jobless and the average income a day of a single employee in Gaza is 2$.

He called on Arab and Islamic countries and the international community to urgently allocate funds to ease the deteriorating humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip.

As a first step al-Khudari added international efforts should be made to pressure Israel to lift its illegal and immoral blockade imposed for over a decade on about two million Palestinians in the coastal enclave.

The Palestinian official stressed that as a result of the 12-year-blockade as well as the three military assaults launched by Israel on the Gaza Strip the enclave has suffered heavy losses estimated at $600 million a year.

Al-Khudari also shed light on the need for achieving Palestinian reconciliation and ending the internal division through the implementation of all signed Egypt-brokered agreements on the basis of equality and partnership.
