Moments of extreme joy recently flooded over the home of hard-working student Alaa Zaher Ahmed in Khan Yunis refugee camp in southern Gaza upon learning that she achieved first place in the high school exit exams scoring an average of 99.7 percent at the scientific section.
Alaa a holy Qur’an memorizer told the Palestinian Information Center (PIC) that she felt very nervous prior to the announcement of the examination results but her happiness was great and indescribable once she heard her name on television being proclaimed as one of the top 10 high school graduates who achieved the highest scores nationwide. “The joy of success is the sweetest feeling” she said.
She expressed her passion for studying medicine like her predecessors who achieved such success in recent years but she also said that she has a great interest in computer programing which she described as a hobby.
She pointed out that taking distance education during the COVID-19 pandemic was not easy for her but she managed to overcome this problem through doubling her efforts with the help of her teachers.
“I also cannot forget my parents’ role during that period when they have backed me up to the fullest and I listened to them and their advice as well as to my sisters’ guidance” Alaa said.
She urged new high school students to study hard on a daily basis refresh their memory regularly avoid delaying their homework and seek refuge in Allah Almighty asserting that the tiring days of studying and learning would culminate in joyful and beautiful days.
The student has dedicated her achievement to the martyrs of Palestine “who sacrificed their lives for the sake of their homeland.” “Without their sacrifices we are nothing” she said.
