Deputy Head of Hamas Movement abroad Mousa Abu Marzouq has called for exerting more efforts to implement the unity agreement signed in Algeria stressing that it constitutes an excellent chance to achieve Palestinian national unity.
“The newly-agreed unity deal was possible thanks to the big efforts of the host country Algeria” Abu Marzouq tweeted on Friday hailing the efforts of the country in supporting the Palestinian cause and in achieving reconciliation.
Abu Marzouq warned that in order for the Algerian endeavors to succeed the Palestinian factions should not cave in to the US and Israeli pressures.
Earlier on Thursday the Palestinian factions signed the national unity agreement following the Gathering Conference for the Palestinian Unity held in Algeria’s capital under the auspices of President Abdel Majid Tebboune.
Last January President Tebboune brought the Palestinian factions together after announcing that his country would host a gathering of the factions to resume reconciliation talks to achieve Palestinian unity prior to the Arab League summit scheduled next November.
