On Sunday the Israeli Ministerial Committee for Legislation is expected to discuss a new bill which prevents any public referendum on the division of Jerusalem.
The draft law also states that any agreement that involves any unilateral withdrawal from east Jerusalem should be approved first by a majority of at least 80 MKs or else it would go for public referendum.
According to Israel Hayom the bill has been submitted by Jewish Home Party and supported by 23 MKs of the ruling coalition.
Jewish Home Party claimed that Israel’s unilateral withdrawal from Lebanon and Gaza was not effective in deterring “terrorist groups from targeting Israel.”
