The Popular Committee Against the Siege has expressed concern over recent remarks by UNRWA warning of a new budget deficit in May stressing the need to enable the agency to continue assuming its role fully in serving the Palestinian refugees.
“Those who think of undermining UNRWA’s humanitarian role which is appreciated by our Palestinian people should reconsider their calculations because they will condemn millions of Palestinian refugees to death” MP Jamal al-Khudari head of the Committee stated on Friday.
Khudari called on the international community and donor parties to fulfill their obligations towards UNRWA in compliance with the decision taken by UN member state at the General Assembly’s meeting in December last year to extend for another three years the refugee agency’s mandate and to help it financially.
