The Imam of Jerusalem’s holy al-Aqsa Mosque Sheikh Ekrema Sabri denounced on Thursday the increasing Israeli assaults on the site and crackdowns on the Muslim worshipers.
Speaking with the Palestinian Information Center (PIC) Sabri said the Israeli forces and settlers have left no stone unturned to mar the positive vibes distinctively sparked by holy Ramadan month for the Muslim worshipers.
Sabri condemned the Israeli break-ins at al-Aqsa Mosque which he said make part of Israeli attempts to violate Muslims’ freedom of worship at the site.
The Imam added that several worshipers have been attacked others arrested and dozens more banned while praying at the site or maintaining vigil in its plazas.
Sabri held the Israeli occupation government responsible for the repercussions of such Israeli assaults and violations against the Muslim worshipers at al-Aqsa.
Tension has been running high across Occupied Jerusalem as Israeli settlers and police broke into al-Aqsa Mosque in the morning and cracked down on the Muslim worshipers and sit-inners.
The Israeli forces arrested a Palestinian boy at the site and attacked the peaceful Muslim worshipers with randomly-fired spates of rubber bullets further fuelling the simmering tensions.
