Arab League slams Israeli killing of Palestinian paramedic

Monday 4-June-2018

The Arab League condemned the recent Israeli killing of a Palestinian paramedic rescuing injured people in the Gaza Strip as “a new chapter of Israeli terrorism.”

Israeli soldiers shot dead 20-year-old Palestinian paramedic Razan al-Najjar near the border fence in Gaza on Friday while she was treating injured Gaza protesters. Thousands of Palestinians paid farewell to the young volunteer in a massive funeral on Saturday.

“This Israeli crime along with others are new series in the Israeli chapter of terrorism that does not provide protection for medical teams and rescuers pursues and targets journalists and executes them in cold blood” said the Cairo-based body in a statement.

The statement held the Israeli authorities responsible for al-Najjar’s “liquidation” warning against the continuity of such “brutal practices” of the Israeli troops.

Since late March the Israeli forces killed at least 120 Palestinians and wounded thousands during protests calling for the Palestinian refugees’ right of return and ending the Israeli blockade imposed on Gaza since 2007.
