Israeli Prison Services (IPS) prevented Arab MK Jamal Zahalka from visiting Sheikh Raed Salah for the fourth time.
MK Zahalka has asked Israeli Interior Minister Gilad Erdan to justify his decision to ban Arab MKs’ visits to Israeli jails and to Sheikh Salah in particular.
MK Zahalka considered the ban as an arbitrary political decision which violates the Arab MKs’ rights guaranteed under international laws.
Earlier on Tuesday the Israeli Central Court in Beersheba refused an appeal submitted by Sheikh Raed Salah’s lawyer to end his isolation in Ramon prison and decided to extend it till the end of his sentence under the pretext of “posing a threat as he could influence the other prisoners.”
