Joint List MK Jumu’a Zabarqa has called for a serious action in response to Israel’s simmering aggressions at and around Jerusalem’s the Aqsa Mosque—the third holiest site in Islam.
Zabarqa said the Aqsa Mosque has been attacked and defiled by the Israelis on a daily basis. The latest such attacks occurred during Holy Ramadan month in Bab al-Rahma adjacent to the site’s eastern wall.
“The Israeli occupation authorities destroyed the road leading to al-Rahma Gate uprooted trees and smashed benches on the roadside” he said. “The Israelis have just wreaked havoc on the area and set up a police checkpoint. We should not keep silent over such oppressive measures.”
Zabarqa also slammed Israel’s arbitrary abduction of guards at the Aqsa Mosque dubbing it another chain in the series of Israeli aggressions against Islamic and Christian holy sites in the Old City and a flagrant violation of the freedom of worship.
