Sheikh Saleh al-Arouri deputy head of Hamas has extended his deepest condolences to the family of journalist Shireen Abu Aqleh who was shot by Israeli occupation forces on Wednesday morning in Jenin.
Speaking to Al-Aqsa Channel on Wednesday evening Sheikh Arouri said that Abu Aqleh is a heroic martyr who fought for Palestine and sacrificed her life for the sake of revealing the truth.
Journalist Shireen was one of the symbols of the Palestinian people’s struggle which would culminate in the demise of the occupation he added.
Arouri stressed the need to hold Israel accountable “for its crimes against our people in particular the killing of journalist Abu Aqleh” who only carried a camera to expose its crimes.
The Hamas leader said: “The assassination of journalist Abu Aqleh has hurt us all but it will not deter us from continuing our fight and will increase our determination to achieve justice.”
“Shireen was a role model for all our people a symbol of our people” he asserted.
Arouri expressed pride in the Jenin camp and its resistance stressing that the Palestinian people will not tire of fighting the occupation until final liberation.
