Arouri: Settler break-ins into Aqsa backed by nation-state bill

Sunday 22-July-2018

Deputy head of Hamas’s Political Bureau Saleh al-Arouri said that Sunday’s settler break-ins into al-Aqsa Mosque are the first translation of Israel’s “Jewish nation-state” law which marks the beginning of a new phase of aggression on Jerusalem and its holy sites.

Al-Arouri hailed the Palestinian men women and youths who rushed to al-Aqsa Mosque on Sunday to defend it against Israeli settlers’ provocative break-ins and called on Palestinians in the West Bank and the 1948 occupied Palestinian territories to intensify their presence in the Mosque in the coming days.

He called on Arab and Muslim nations to support the Palestinian people in Jerusalem and take a serious stand against Israeli aggressions on the third holiest site in Islam.

The Hamas official stressed that this Israeli escalation should be met with serious actions toward achieving national unity.

Earlier Sunday more than 1000 Israeli settlers forced their way into al-Aqsa Mosque under the protection of Israeli police to mark the anniversary of the so-called “Destruction of Jerusalem’s Temple”.
