Arrests clashes reported in Qalqilya

Saturday 2-April-2022

Clashes between Israeli occupation forces (IOF) and Palestinian youths have broken out after the start of the weekly anti-settlement march in Kafr Qaddoum village east of Qalqilya on Saturday evening.

IOF soldiers fired rubber-coated metal bullets and teargas canisters at the citizens during the clashes which followed the march that began from Omar Ibn Al-Khattab Mosque in the center of Kafr Qaddoum and headed towards the closed western entrance to the village.

IOF soldiers chased Palestinian young men and set ambushes to arrest them while Palestinian youths burned rubber tires and threw stones in defense of themselves.

The IOF had closed the village’s main street during the Al-Aqsa Intifada in 2003. Kafr Qaddoum has been witnessing weekly demonstrations since 2011 demanding the opening of the street.

The IOF injured and arrested hundreds of villagers over the past years since the marches started.

Closing the entrance to the village caused citizens much trouble as this entrance is an important corridor linking Kafr Qaddoum and its surrounding Palestinian villages and towns.
