Arrests reported in Israeli overnight raids

Violent clashes broke out Wednesday between Israeli police and Palestinian youths in Qalandia refugee camp north of occupied Jerusalem while several arrests were carried out across West Bank towns.

According to the PIC field reporter hundreds of Israeli police forces raided Qalandia camp at dawn today and violently stormed several houses after blowing up their doors.

At least four Palestinians were arrested during the raids which led to the outbreak of the clashes.

Local youths used Molotov cocktails and stones during the confrontation before exchanging gunfire with Israeli forces according to the sources.

Rubber bullet wounds were reported among the locals while Israeli ambulances arrived to the area to transfer a number of injured soldiers.

An ex-detainee’s house was also stormed during the raid.

Similar raids were carried out in Nablus to the north of occupied West Bank where two youngsters were detained from their houses in Balata refugee camp.

Two other youths were rounded up at Zatara checkpoint south of Nablus after being brutally attacked by Israeli forces while a 19-year-old young man was detained west of the city.

In Jenin several Israeli military vehicles stormed Meitloun town south of the city and arrested a young man from his family house.

A military checkpoint was also erected at the road leading to Joba’a town south of Jenin restricting the residents’ movement.

Along the same line a leader in Hamas Movement was arrested in Aqraba town south of Tubas along with his son only few hours after his release from Israeli jails.
