Deputy head of Hamas’s political bureau Saleh al-Aruri has warned of attempts by Arab parties and media outlets to undermine the relations between his Movement and Qatar through accusing the latter of standing against the Palestinian reconciliation.
In an interview conducted by al-Jazeera satellite channel on Wednesday Aruri affirmed that his Movement has strong ties with Qatar adding that Doha supports the Palestinian reconciliation agreement regardless of where it was signed.
The Hamas official also said that a delegation from his Movement had visited Doha several times recently and briefed its officials on the developments in the Palestinian arena especially with regard to the national reconciliation.
As for the Palestinian reconciliation Aruri said his Movement is ready to make further steps to reach understandings with Fatah to boost the reconciliation without prejudice to the principles of Hamas and the national constants of the Palestinian cause.
He emphasized that “the weapons of the resistance are red line and non-negotiable” adding that Hamas would never recognize Israel.
