Deputy head of Hamas’s political bureau Saleh al-Aruri has affirmed that his Movement has the right to resist the occupation and defend its people and holy sites.
Aruri made his remarks on Wednesday during a festival held to mark Hamas’s 35th founding anniversary at Birzeit University in the occupied West Bank.
Aruri applauded the Palestinian masses at home and abroad for rallying around the armed resistance and their readiness to provide every support for it.
“Resistance is our right and our duty so we do not feel ashamed of it and we will not hide behind empty slogans and words nor will we be afraid of the world’s accusations and prosecutions. We exercise our right and duty to defend our land rights and holy sites and we have no other option” the Hamas official said.
“All the negotiations were frivolous and did not lead to anything. Rather they perpetuated and deepened the occupation further. The resistance is the only one that succeeded in uprooting the occupation from Gaza and from the northern West Bank” he added.
