GENEVA (PIC)– Catherine Ashton the European foreign policy chief called on Monday for allowing exports from Gaza to the outside world in order to boost its economy.
Ashton told reporters before a meeting for the European foreign ministers that more efforts were needed to improve the conditions in Gaza mentioning in particular allowing exports so as to reinvigorate its economy.
She said that more goods were allowed into Gaza through the Karm Abu Salem crossing.
For his part Italian foreign minister Franco Frattini reiterated that a group of European foreign ministers would visit the besieged coastal enclave early September.
