GAZA (PIC)– Foreign affairs minister of the European Union Catherine Ashton has called for ending the Israeli blockade on Gaza and opening all crossings of the Strip.
She told a press conference at a training facility for UNRWA in Gaza on Wednesday that she always asks the Israelis to end the Gaza siege open crossings and allow Gazans to build a better future.
Ashton signed an agreement with UNRWA commissioner general Filippo Grandi by which the EU would extend 55 million Euros as a contribution to the agency’s budget.
For his part Grandi said that the EU contribution constituted 10% of the total budget of UNRWA and hoped that it would continue to support the agency’s services and commitments toward the Palestinian refugees.
