The health condition of Palestinian prisoner Khalil Awawdeh has worsened further as he entered on Saturday day 154 of his hunger strike which he staged to protest his detention administratively.
Last Thursday the military court in Ofer jail allowed Awawdeh’s lawyer along with a doctor to visit him urgently in Assaf Harofeh Hospital to examine him as a prelude to preparing a medical report on his health condition and then submitting it to the court next Sunday.
Awawdeh who has been transferred repeatedly from the Ramla prison infirmary to Assaf Harofeh Hospital suffers from multiple health problems including severe joint pains a persistent headache emaciation extreme fatigue irregular heartbeats and breathing and blurred eyesight.
Describing Awawdeh’s body as a “piece of bone” his lawyer Ahlam Haddad also said that he has difficulty speaking and memorizing and cannot move without a wheelchair.
Awawdeh a 40-year-old from Idhna town in al-Khalil decided to suspend 111 days of hunger strike on June 21 before he resumed his hunger strike on July 2 after Israeli jailers reneged on their pledges to end his administrative detention.
