The Islamic Awqaf Authority in Occupied Jerusalem has strongly denounced the Israeli police for physically assaulting Aqsa guard Imran al-Rajabi on Friday.
In a statement the Awqaf Authority said that Rajabi was assaulted after he asked officers to take off their shoes before entering the Mosque’s Bab al-Rahma prayer area describing what happened to him as “brutal and barbaric.”
The Awqaf Authority said that such police assault on one of its Aqsa Mosque guards was part of the violations that recently targeted the Aqsa Mosque its employees and the Bab al-Rahma prayer area.
It affirmed that the exposure of Aqsa guards to systematic targeting and persecution by the Israeli police would not dissuade it from assuming its duties towards the Aqsa Mosque.
