Hamas spokesman Husam Badran has called for Palestinian national action to pressure the Palestinian Authority (PA) to end the ongoing arrest of university students in the West Bank.
In press remarks on Friday Badran described the detention and persecution of West Bank university students because of their political affiliation and their involvement in student activities “blatant interference in the internal affairs of universities and a desperate attempt to destroy the future of a young generation.”
The spokesman warned that the escalation of the political arrest campaign recently against university students in the West Bank would harm the Palestinian educational process and adversely affect the stature of universities because of their failure to protect their students.
He hailed the “Safe Universities” campaign which was launched in the West Bank calling it a good step to reflect the size of violations against students.
