Ahmed Bahar first deputy speaker of the Palestinian Legislative Council (PLC) has condemned the remarks that were made by Saudi foreign minister Adel al-Jubeir against the Hamas Movement describing them as insulting to the Kingdom’s role towards the Palestinian cause.
During an inaugural ceremony held on Wednesday for charitable projects in Gaza Bahar said that al-Jubeir’s remarks did not reflect Saudi Arabia’s historic role towards the Palestinian people and their national cause and would only serve the Israeli occupation.
The lawmaker emphasized that the weapons which the Palestinian resistance and Hamas possess are only directed against the Israeli occupation and used to defend the Palestinian people on their own land.
“Those who label Hamas as a terror group does not know the meaning of terrorism” Bahar underlined.
He called on the Arab nation to close ranks and assume their real role in defending Jerusalem against Israel’s violations.
He also urged the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to shoulder their responsibilities towards the Palestinian cause and Jerusalem and support the steadfastness of the Palestinian people at home and abroad.
The PLC deputy speaker expressed his thanks to Qatar for its supportive positions towards the Palestinian cause especially its humanitarian and relief efforts in Gaza.
He also offered special thanks to the Qatari female benefactors for their generous donations to two humanitarian projects in Gaza.
Al-Riyadh Charity Society for Community Development opened on Wednesday two projects in Gaza city funded by Qatari women.
One of the projects is a well that will provide about 50000 citizens in al-Shati refugee camp west of Gaza City with their water needs and the other one is an automated bakery whose returns will be used to support orphans and poor families.
