RIYADH (PIC)– Acting PLC speaker Dr. Ahmed Bahar arrived at the head of a parliamentary delegation in Saudi Arabia on Sunday on an official one week visit.
Bahar said on arrival that the visit aims at boosting cooperation with Saudi Arabia adding that the delegates would have meetings with a number of senior Saudi officials including the Shoura (consultative) council chairman.
The acting speaker appreciated the Saudi pioneering role in backing the Palestinian people and the Saudi Kingdom’s constant keenness on unity of the Palestinian people and on enhancing its steadfastness in face of the Zionist occupation. He stressed that Riyadh played an effective role in supporting the Palestine cause.
The visit is the first of its kind to Saudi Arabia and falls in line with an Arab and Islamic tour that aims at rallying support for lifting the siege on Gaza and consolidating joint cooperation between the PLC and parliaments in those countries.
The tour also includes Syria Bahrain Sudan Qatar Oman Indonesia and Iran.
