GAZA (PIC)– Dr. Ahmed Bahar the acting PLC speaker has addressed a message to PA chief Mahmoud Abbas advising him to rescind his decree calling for a new PLC session on Wednesday.
He stressed that the basic bylaw does not entitle Abbas to call for an ordinary PLC session. He also denied the presence of any vacuum in the parliament’s ordinary work.
Bahar explained that he called for the convening of a PLC session according to its bylaws last week and that the PLC is currently in session since 5/7/2007.
The acting speaker charged that the presidential decree which included a prepared agenda for the PLC session constituted”blatant and unprecedented violation” of the legislative authority’s constitutional powers.
The IOA detains 45 members of the PLC 41 of whom are Hamas-affiliated including its speaker Dr. Aziz Dwaik and its secretary Dr. Mahmoud Al-Ramahi.
