GAZA (PIC)– Dr. Ahmed Bahar the acting PLC speaker has called for a parliament session on Sunday 22/7 to hold a confidence vote on the government of Salam Fayyad appointed by PA chief Mahmoud Abbas.
The call came in a message addressed from Dr. Bahar to Fayyad in response to the latter’s message in which he asked for holding a session to discuss his government.
For his part Dr. Salah Al-Bardawil spokesman of the Hamas-affiliated change and reform parliamentary bloc said that his bloc would decide on Wednesday whether or not to take part in the session.
Abbas had dissolved the national unity government of Ismail Haneyya and appointed Fayyad as premier of an “unconstitutional” emergency government which he now seeks to endorse as the legitimate PA government. According to the PA basic law Haneyya’s government remains as a caretaker government until another one is endorsed by the PLC.
