Frist deputy speaker of the Palestinian Legislative Council Ahmad Bahar on Friday said that empowering the Palestinian Authority (PA) government is only achieved by lifting the siege and ending security coordination with the Israeli occupation.
During his Friday sermon in Gaza city Bahar warned of the projects aimed at disarming the Palestinian resistance movements stressing that armed resistance is a legitimate right guaranteed by all international laws.
Bahar denounced the efforts made by many Arab and Muslim countries in the region to normalize relations with Israel which come as part of the so-called “the deal of the century”.
He called on the Palestinian people to unite and support the resistance in its battle with the Israeli occupation.
A new round of reconciliation talks between the Palestinian factions was ended on Wednesday. Mechanisms were developed for the implementation of the understandings reached in the reconciliation agreement signed in October between Fatah and Hamas.
The factions stressed in the closing statement the importance of working hard to remove all obstacles preventing the PA government from properly assuming its duties in Gaza in all fields.
The statement mentioned nothing about lifting the sanctions imposed on Gaza or opening the crossings.
Representatives from the Palestinian factions on Tuesday traveled to Cairo to start a new round of reconciliation talks to discuss major Palestinian issues and mechanisms for the implementation of the reconciliation agreement.
