First deputy speaker of the Palestinian Legislative Council (PLC) Ahmad Bahar on Wednesday called for a consultative meeting between all parliamentary blocs to resume the operations of the PLC in implementation of what was mentioned in the closing statement of the recent Cairo talks.
Bahar stressed in a statement on Wednesday that the Palestinian Authority (PA) government should gain the confidence of the PLC so as to be able to operate in accordance with the provisions of the Basic Law.
Hamas and Fatah on 12th October signed an Egypt-sponsored reconciliation agreement that provides for allowing the PA government to fully administer the Gaza Strip in addition to the West Bank by 1st December.
A number of Fatah officials have recently accused Hamas of obstructing the full empowerment of the PA government which the latter has repeatedly denied.
