Bahar calls for suing UN-blacklisted companies

Friday 14-February-2020

Ahmed Bahar first deputy speaker of the Palestinian Legislative Council has called for taking legal action against the UN-blacklisted companies that have ties with Israel’s illegal settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories.

In a statement on Thursday Bahar has affirmed that “the Palestinian people along with the world’s free people and UN and rights institutions will work on prosecuting the blacklist of 112 companies with ties to Israeli settlements.”

The deputy speaker called for an all-out boycott of the declared companies until they end their ties with illegal settlements or face prosecution over their complicity in war crimes.

He considered the UN release of this list “a victory for the Palestinian rights and a step towards drying up the sources of the Zionist settlement system” on the occupied land.

The UN human rights office on Wednesday released a list of companies it said are complicit in violating Palestinian human rights by operating in illegal Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank.

The UN step is considered the first-ever international attempt to name and shame businesses that have ties with Israel’s settlement activities in the occupied territories.
