Bahar condemns the meeting in Greece between Palestinian and Israeli MPs

Saturday 7-June-2008

GAZA (PIC)– The chairmanship of the Palestinian legislative council on Saturday issued a statement condemning the expected meeting between Palestinian and Israeli MPs in Greece under the slogan of “confidence building”.

Dr. Ahmed Bahar the acting PLC speaker said in a statement that the meetings scheduled on 11th June would be in violation of the PLC decision issued on 8/12/2003.

The meeting in Greece would serve as a stab in the back of the Palestinian people especially at the time when the Israeli occupation forces are indiscriminately killing and maiming Palestinian citizens and are receiving the full backing of the Israeli parliament members who call on their government to storm Gaza and shell civilian neighborhoods he elaborated.

Bahar said that the Palestinian lawmakers who attend the meeting would be only representing themselves and would be violating the PLC decision that bans any meeting or dialogue with the Zionists. “We call on them to desist from such meetings and to abide by the PLC resolutions and to respect the blood of martyrs” he concluded.
