Bahar lauds UN Jerusalem resolution calls for more pressure on US

Friday 22-December-2017

First deputy speaker of the Palestinian Legislative Council Ahmad Bahar on Friday called for the enforcement of the international resolutions supporting the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination.

During his Friday sermon in Gaza city Bahar praised the countries that voted in favor of the UN Jerusalem resolution despite the US threats and asked the international community to exert more pressure on the US to backtrack on its decision.

He described the UN General Assembly resolution rejecting the US recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel as a “step on the right path” and a “slap in the face” of the US president Donald Trump.

The Palestinian official stressed that the Palestinian people have the right to regain all their legitimate rights guaranteed by international law using all available means including armed resistance and urged the Arab and Muslim masses to continue their protests against the US move.

Bahar called on the Arab and Muslim countries to stop all forms of normalization with Israel and shoulder their responsibilities toward the Palestinian cause.

He appealed to the Palestinian factions to unite in the face of their sole enemy and asked the Palestinian Authority to end security coordination with the Israeli occupation and support the resistance instead.
