Bahar warns of Israeli attempts to demolish the Aqsa Mosque

Wednesday 21-February-2007

GAZA (PIC)– Dr. Ahmed Bahar the acting speaker of the PLC has charged that the Israeli occupation authority’s ultimate goal of excavations at the Aqsa Mosque is to demolish the holy site and build the so-called temple on its ruins.

Dr. Bahar speaking at the inauguration of the PLC emergency session on Tuesday held in Gaza and the West Bank via videoconference cited the IOA diggings under and around the Aqsa Mosque as evident proof.

He hailed the steadfast Palestinians living in occupied Jerusalem and the 1948 occupied lands who are standing up to the IOA practices and bulldozers.

The acting speaker appealed to the Arab and Islamic countries the OIC and the Arab League to shoulder their responsibilities affirming that Jerusalem is the city of all Muslims.

He also called on the UN and human rights organizations to intervene and stop such an “oppressive aggression” on the Aqsa Mosque the third holiest shrine in Islam.

Dr. Bahar urged the PA chief and the premier to expedite the formation of the national unity government so as to stand united in face of “Zionist challenges and American pressures”.

He affirmed the PLC’s backing to the Palestinian leadership in its rejection of such pressures and in its insistence on the Makkah agreement.
