Bahar warns of attempts to obliterate Palestinian cause

Monday 28-August-2017

First deputy speaker of the Palestinian Legislative Council Ahmad Bahar on Monday warned the Palestinian Authority (PA) against being part of US-Israeli projects aimed at obliterating the Palestinian cause and legitimizing the Israeli occupation’s presence in the region.

During a graduation ceremony for a batch of officers from Gaza’s National Security Forces Bahar called on the PA to stop receiving US envoys and delegations adopting pro-Israel positions because this would open the door for further settlement expansion in the West Bank and more attacks on al-Aqsa Mosque and other holy sites.

Bahar stressed the seriousness of the Israeli government’s decision that allows a number of ministers and MKs to enter al-Aqsa Mosque on Tuesday for the first time since 2015.

He praised the efforts made by Gaza’s Ministry of Interior and National Security to protect citizens and preserve border security.

For his part Major General Mahmoud Azzam said that the Ministry of Interior is striving to develop its security and military capabilities to serve the interests of citizens.
