Hamas representative in Lebanon Ali Baraka has called on the UNRWA to continue providing services to the Palestinian refugees until the day they return to the homes they were expelled from.
Baraka made his remarks during his meeting on Monday with a delegation from Committee 302 for Defending Refugees’ Rights.
He also called on the Palestinians to continue their civilized and peaceful protests to pressure the UNRWA to backtrack on its decision to reduce its services.
He stressed the importance of the role played by local and international refugee institutions and groups in raising the public awareness about the issue of Palestinian refugees and pressuring decision-makers to contribute to the protection of their rights.
For his part head of the delegation Ali Huwaidi briefed the Hamas official on the activities and goals of the committee and discussed with him the prospects of cooperation with the Movement to defend the issue of the Palestinian refugees.
Huwaidi also invited Baraka to participate in the symposium on the UNRWA which is to be held by the committee on December 6 in Sidon city.
