Barghouthi: Israel’s intent to legalize 120 outposts “serious crime”

Tuesday 15-November-2016

Secretary-general of the Palestinian National Initiative Mustafa al-Barghouthi has condemned the Israeli government’s decision to legalize 120 settler outposts in the West Bank as “a serious crime” and called for confronting it.

“Legitimizing 120 settler outposts means that there will be 120 new settlements to be expanded in the West Bank and Jerusalem” Barghouthi stated on Monday.

“Israel is racing against time to impose a new fait accompli on the ground in order to torpedo the idea of establishing an independent Palestinian state” the Palestinian official added.

He accused the Israeli government’s ministers of competing with each other to show who could be more extremist and racist than the other towards the Palestinian people and their holy sites pointing to the recent attempts at the Knesset to ban the use of loudspeakers to recite Adhan (call to prayer) at Palestinian Mosques.

Barghouthi also slammed Israel as “being worse than the apartheid regime that existed in the past in South Africa.”
