Tuesday 20-March-2007

RAMALLAH (PIC)– Dr. Mustafa Al-Barghouthi the PA information minister on Tuesday urged the world community and the international quartet committee not to delay recognition of the new Palestinian unity government.

Barghouthi in a statement said that the PA government welcomes the “positive and constructive” stands on the part of a number of European countries Russia and China in dealing with the unity government.

He said that France Italy and Norway had already started contacting that government adding that the government’s program sanctions democracy and looks forward to realizing the Palestinians’ hopes in freedom.

“There is no justification for not dealing positively with the new Palestinian government that announced its respect of agreements signed by the PLO and of the international law which the occupation government continues to violate” he stressed.

The minister clarified that the unity government declared its endorsement of resistance as a legitimate right and at the same time declared readiness to abide by a comprehensive and reciprocal truce.
