Barhoum calls for speedy implementation of reconciliation agreement

Tuesday 17-October-2017

Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas on Tuesday called on the Palestinian Authority (PA) government led by Rami Hamdallah to speed up the implementation of all terms of the reconciliation agreement.

Hamas’s spokesman Fawzi Barhoum said on his Facebook page on Tuesday “After the government has been handed over all responsibilities in the Gaza Strip a speedy and honest implementation of the terms of the reconciliation agreement is required.”

Barhoum added that the implementation process must be based on a real national partnership calling on the PA government to deal with the Gaza employees issue responsibly.

He called on all parties to cooperate and work hard to remove all the obstacles that might hinder this process.

Fatah and Hamas movements on 12th October signed an Egypt-sponsored reconciliation agreement in Cairo that provides for handing over all responsibilities of government institutions in Gaza to the PA government and calls for a comprehensive national dialogue in November.

Gazan citizens expect the PA government to take practical steps to lift the sanctions imposed on them by the PA president Mahmoud Abbas in April after Hamas formed the administrative committee that was dissolved later on 17th September.
