The British Palestinians renewed their dedication to the right of return support for the Palestinian people and their adherence to their land the preservation of national identity and the affirmation of the Palestinian right to their homeland and its sanctities.
This came during a Palestinian social gathering on Sunday in the British capital London where hundreds of Palestinians along with Arab and Islamic public figures from Britain participated for the first time after a year and a half due to the ongoing pandemic in the event organized by the Palestinian Forum in Britain.
The participants expressed their support to Palestine proud of their authentic heritage where the Palestinian dabkeh the beautiful heritage songs and the distinctive Palestinian atmosphere emphasized the new generations of their identity amid a great turnout from the Palestinian and Arab community.
Adnan Hmidan deputy head of the Palestinian Forum in Britain affirmed that “this social gathering of the Palestinian Forum in Britain comes after a break of more than a year and a half due to the pandemic where there was no gatherings or meetings except for the protest inflicted by the aggression on Jerusalem and Gaza where half a million demonstrators took to the streets of London in a protest organized by the Palestinian Forum in Britain and its partners “in which we interpret expressions of loyalty and solidarity to the political prisoners in general; especially Miqdad Al-Qawasmi and other prisoners on hunger strike”.
He continued “Here is the gathering with the flavor of Musakhan and the aroma of sage and the atmosphere of the Palestinian heritage in all its details from folk dances to national songs embroideries and national clothes this is a history and a past that we cherish and a nation that does not care about its past does not deserve the future”.
He added: “Here the young and old meet to inherit the cause generation after generation and to swear an oath of loyalty to Palestine.”
The meeting included stalls selling Palestinian fashion traditional foods and sweets prepared by Palestinian and Arab families and a heritage exhibition during which many traditional Palestinian paintings and handicrafts were displayed in addition to presenting delicious Palestinian kunafa.
This evening finished in a beautiful Palestinian artistic performance where the Palestinian artist from the refugee camps in Syria “Rabi Rizk” sang songs of return and adherence to identity and land.
The evening was accompanied by a performance by the Fursaan dabka group. Ammar Al-Zeer the supervisor of the Fursan Dabke group stressed the band’s keenness to express the Palestinian heritage from the heart of Britain and this is an affirmation of not forgetting the Palestinian right and preserving art and heritage as an authentic part of preserving the Palestinian identity.
It is worth mentioning that this meeting is held by the Palestinian Forum in Britain in London regularly to interact with the emerging issues of the Palestinian issue and to strengthen ties between the members of the community.
