A round of meetings between Hamas and an Egyptian security delegation have been on the go for sometime in an attempt to boost Palestinian intra-reconciliation.
In a Tuesday statement Hamas spokesman Hazem Kasem said the group’s leadership headed by Yehya Sinwar received an Egyptian delegation led by Sameh Nabeel at Hamas’s Gaza-based office.
Both parties discussed the reconciliation file and possible ways to boost national unity.
Hamas hailed the Egyptian envoy and its ongoing efforts to prop up Palestinian reconciliation.
Kasem said Hamas has done every possible effort to make reconciliation see the day.
An Egyptian security delegation arrived in the besieged Gaza Strip on Sunday at the same time as ministers from the Palestinian consensus government popped in the enclave.
The lives of around two million Palestinians trapped in the Israeli-blockaded Gaza Strip have been severely affected by the Palestinian Authority’s reluctance to assume its responsibilities in the enclave and lift sanctions on Gaza as stipulated by the reconciliation accord struck in Cairo on October 12 2017.
