Egypt predicted on Wednesday dangerous consequences of the ongoing Israeli escalation at Jerusalem’s al-Aqsa Mosque which has resulted in serious injuries among the peaceful Muslim worshipers.
Egypt’s Foreign Ministry urged Israel to halt the violent acts and respect Palestinians’ freedom of worship.
The statement called upon Israel not to take further measures that would fuel clashes and increase the state of tension.
On Tuesday evening the Israeli occupation forces brutally assaulted a group of Palestinian worshipers as they performed Ishaa (night) prayers in congregation outside al-Aqsa Mosque.
Muslim worshipers continue to refuse to enter al-Aqsa through the metal detectors set up by the Israeli forces near the main entrances to the site.
