Calls for firm reaction against US extradition request against Tamimi

Thursday 16-March-2017

The Palestinian Culture Ministry in Gaza Strip called Thursday for a popular and official reaction against the US extradition request against Jordanian journalist and ex-prisoner Ahlam al-Tamimi.

We call on the Arab League and the Organization of the Islamic Conference to take a firm position against such an unfair decision against al-Tamimi the Ministry said in its statement.

The Ministry also called on Jordanian King and government not to respond to the US request.

The statement stressed that the unjust decision against al-Tamimi by the US State Department “reflects total bias toward the killing machine and Israeli terrorism against prisoners and ex-prisoners” referring to the Israeli regime.

Earlier Wednesday US administration placed al-Tamimi who is currently working as a journalist at a television station in Jordan on its “Most Wanted Terrorist” list and requests her extradition.

Ahlam al- Tamimi was given 16 life sentences and 250 years in prison for her alleged involvement in a bombing attack on Sbarro Pizzeria in Occupied Jerusalem in August 2001 before she was released as part of the 2011 prisoner swap deal between Israel and the Palestinian resistance in Gaza.
