Movement to Lift Sanctions on Gaza on Wednesday called for the largest participation in a demonstration set to be launched in Ramallah Saturday toward the headquarters of the Palestine Liberation Organization.
A statement released by the Movement said that the demonstration is part of a larger campaign organized to support the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and pressure the Palestinian Authority (PA) to lift the sanctions imposed on them.
The Movement added that the event was supposed to take place on Wednesday but another demonstration was decided to be organized in Khan al-Ahmar instead to support Bedouin Palestinians living there against an Israeli plan to demolish the entire village.
The Movement stressed that it will not stand idly by and will support Palestinians in Gaza and Khan al-Ahmar by all possible means.
The PA in April 2017 imposed a set of punitive measures on the Gaza Strip including cutting 30%-50% of the salaries of Gaza employees forcing thousands of them into early retirement reducing power supplies to the enclave suspending medical referrals and halting monthly payments to the families of Gaza prisoners and martyrs.
