Campaign of raids and arrests in various areas of West Bank Jerusalem

The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) launched a campaign of raids and arrests of several Palestinian citizens on Monday night and at dawn Tuesday in various areas of the West Bank and Jerusalem.

IOF arrested at dawn Tuesday a member of the Palestinian Legislative Council Sheikh Khaled Tafesh after raiding and searching his home in Za’tara town east of Bethlehem.

Local sources reported that IOF arrested Tafesh 55 after storming and searching his house in Za’tara town and ordered his 30-year-old son Musab to appear at its intelligence agency for questioning.

Tafesh was arrested by the occupation authorities several times before. He is one of the leaders of the Islamic movement in Bethlehem and one of the deportees to Marj al-Zuhur.

In 2006 Tafesh was elected a member of the Palestinian Legislative Council in its second session after which he was arrested several times. He spent most of his arrest period in administrative detention.

In Nablus IOF stormed several neighborhoods in the city and arrested Nidal Atef Abu Rumaila 49 after raiding his house.

IOF raided the house of the released prisoner Muhammad Al-Koni in Rafidia and conducted a field investigation with its residents.

In Jenin the IOF soldiers detained the 12-year-old child Abdul-Karim Samoudi from the al-Yamoun town and took him to Salem refugee camp before releasing him later.

IOF broke into the village of Zabuba west of Jenin which led to the outbreak of clashes with residents. The IOF fired tear gas canisters at them.

Military checkpoints were set up between the towns of Ya’bad and Araba and in the vicinity of the village of Jalameh northeast of Jenin.

In Ramallah IOF arrested Riad Abda from Kafr Na`ma town west of Ramallah. Abda is the father of the prisoner Qusay Abda.

In Jericho IOF arrested the two brothers Yahya and Yusef Naseem Al-Muqeeti after storming and searching their families’ house in Aqbat Jaber refugee camp in Jericho.

In al-Khalil the IOF soldiers arrested Mahmoud Raed Asafra from Beit Kahil town to the north and Abdullah Samir Al-Rajabi from the southern region of al-Khalil after searching their homes and tampering with their contents.

IOF arrested the two students both 16 years old from Beit Ummar town north of al-Khalil Majdi Murshid Zaqeq and Ibrahim Rami Zaqeq and took them to Etzion camp north of the town.

The IOF soldiers also arrested Obaidah Ghazi during a raid on his family’s house in the town and broke the main door. His wife was injured after the door fell on her while she was trying to open it for the soldiers to avoid breaking it.

On Monday night IOF stormed the Irsheed printing press and tampered with its contents. The IOF soldiers also seized pictures of the sons of the printing press owner the martyrs Dania and Uday Jihad Irsheed who were martyred in the Jerusalem Uprising (Al-Quds Intifada) in 2015.

In the village of Harmleh east of Bethlehem IOF arrested Abdullah Awad Abayat Ismail Khalil al-Zeer and Hamza Talib Abu Dayya after storming and searching their homes.

In Jerusalem the Israeli police stormed al-Issawiya town and began searching several houses. As a result violent confrontations broke out between the Israeli police and the Palestinian youths.

The occupation police fired gas canisters at Palestinian homes and several Palestinians suffered breathing problems.

The Israeli police arrested the boy Muhammad Walid Al-Rajabi after storming and searching his family’s home in the Al-Bustan neighborhood in Silwan town.
