Caretaker government denies any kind of contact with IOA

Saturday 22-September-2007

GAZA (PIC)– Taher Annono the spokesman for the PA caretaker government has denied what had been broadcast by some media outlets that a prominent Hamas leader had conducted direct or indirect contacts with the IOA warning of attempts to distort the facts to cover up the failed meetings held by the PA in Ramallah.

In a press release received by the PIC Annono confirmed that Dr. Ghazi Hamad a Hamas prominent leader had not contacted any Israeli party directly or indirectly calling on media outlets to investigate reports before transferring such news and not to participate in the ongoing propaganda against the government in Gaza.

Earlier Ma’an news agency along with the Hebrew radio had alleged that Hamad had held contacts with a senior Israeli official to reach an agreement on a comprehensive and mutual calm in the Gaza Strip in exchange for lifting the siege on the Gaza Strip.

The spokesman also said that the caretaker government considers these lies as part of the propaganda campaign being waged against it and its symbols.

In another context Dr. Salah Al-Bardawil the spokesman for the change and reform parliamentary bloc denounced in a press statement to the Quds Press the return of rumors about putting Gaza under Egyptian administration.

Dr. Bardawil dismissed the possibility of putting Gaza under the Egyptian supervision and attributed this to the fact that Egypt is not ready to assume an additional financial and human burden; in addition it has its own demographic and economic problems ruling out that Egypt will take such a step because of its “honorable positions” in the defense of the Palestinian cause.

Regarding the Israeli decision to consider Gaza a “hostile entity” Mushir Al-Masri the secretary general of the Hamas parliamentary bloc confirmed that this decision was taken at the instigation of PA chief Mahmoud Abbas and his team in Ramallah who cooperate with the Israeli occupation to tighten the squeeze on their people in Gaza.

Masri called on the international community to assume its responsibility and condemn the Israel’s crimes and its serious decision against the Palestinian people which would lead to serious human and environmental disasters at all levels.
