Casualties in IOF quelling of Kafr Qaddum march

Friday 16-October-2020

Dozens of Palestinian citizens including a journalist suffered breathing difficulty during the Israeli occupation forces’ (IOF) quelling of the weekly Kafr Qaddum march against settlements and the demand to reopen the village’s main street which has been closed for more than 17 years.

The march was launched with the participation of dozens of townspeople who chanted national slogans calling for escalation of popular resistance against the Israeli occupation.

Murad Shteiwi the coordinator of the popular resistance in Kafr Qaddum stated that the IOF soldiers fired dozens of tear gas and sound bombs towards the marchers. Dozens of Palestinians suffered breathing problems including a journalist. All casualties were treated in the field.

Shteiwi confirmed that IOF had failed to arrest any of the young men after an ambush was set up in one of the village’s houses. This led to the outbreak of violent confrontations during which the IOF soldiers pursued the young men into the village alleys.
