Casualties in clashes with IOF during anti-settlement rallies

Friday 11-September-2020

Violent confrontations erupted between Palestinian citizens and the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) on Friday in various areas of the West Bank after the launch of marches against settlement projects.

In Qalqilya IOF suppressed the weekly Kafr Qaddum march in the east. Four civilians were wounded and dozens suffered gas suffocation.

Local sources reported that four citizens including a journalist were wounded by the IOF fire while dozens of them including journalists suffered suffocation.

The march was launched with the participation of the villagers who chanted patriotic slogans rejecting the plots aimed at undermining the Palestinian national project.

Citizens held a symbolic funeral for the Arab League during the weekly national activities in Kafr Qaddum town east of Qalqilya expressing their anger at its rejection of the condemnation of normalization with Israel.

For the ninth year in a row the weekly anti-settlement marches continue to demand opening the main road of the town which IOF closed for settlement expansion.

Clashes in al-Khalil

In al-Khalil several Palestinian citizens suffered from their exposure to tear gas during clashes with IOF soldiers in the Bab Al-Zawiya area in the city center.

Bab Al-Zawiya Square is located in a plain area in the middle of the valley and it forms the main center of al-Khalil city as it contains a group of basic historical schools as well as the Medina commercial market and an extended block of ancient historical buildings.

Bab al-Zawiya Square has turned into a battlefield of frequent confrontations as it is on the contact lines with the military sites of the Israeli occupation army and settlements.

Haris March

In Salfit the weekly protests in Haris town northwest of Salfit have returned against the settlement expansion after a halt last week due to the spread of coronavirus in the town.

IOF suppressed the weekly anti-settlement march that started after the Friday prayers in front of the military gate built at the western entrance of Haris town.

Local sources said that IOF closed the military gate at the western entrance to the town and prevented dozens of people from accessing their lands.

Haris’s people held prayers in the lands of the town that are threatened with seizure for the sixteenth week in a row to reject the occupation and settlement attacks especially in the Khirbet Abu Al-Ela area.
