The Hamas “Change and Reform Bloc” lawmakers in the West Bank have declared their refusal to participate in the session of the Palestinian National Council (PNC) to be convened by the Fatah-controlled Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) on April 30 in Ramallah.
According to the Jerusalem Center for Studies the Change and Reform Bloc lawmakers justified their position by saying that “the PNC in its current form does not represent the Palestinian people as a whole and holding it will only deepen the Palestinian division.”
The lawmakers also called for necessarily honoring the previous national agreements most importantly the 2017 Beirut declaration and adopting them as a road map for the reform of the PLO and the rebuilding of a Palestinian National Council that represents the Palestinian people from all spectra.
Previously the Movements of Hamas Islamic Jihad and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine in addition to popular institutions scores of dignitaries and about 100 PNC members announced their boycott of the intended PNC session.
