The People’s Republic of China on Tuesday confirmed that the deteriorating situation in the Palestinian territories is worrying condemning the repeated Israeli brutal crimes against Palestinians.
The Permanent Representative of China to the United Nations Zhang Jun told a Security Council briefing on the situation in the Middle East including the Palestinian question that the continued expansion of Israeli settlements which encroaches upon Palestinian land and natural resources and undermines the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination is concerning.
“The question of Palestine is a litmus test of the international justice and fairness” Zhang said urging Israel to launch a criminal investigation into the killing of Shireen Abu Akleh (the Al Jazeera correspondent) and release its findings in order to ensure accountability.
He called on the international community to take decisive measures in order to prevent the Palestinian issue from being totally derailed.
