Civilians arrested homes ransacked in predawn sweep by Israeli army

Thursday 23-November-2017

A number of Palestinians were kidnapped by the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) at daybreak Thursday in abduction sweeps rocking the West Bank.

The Israeli soldiers kidnapped the Palestinian youth Ezzedine Abu Diya as he passed through the Shavi Shamron military checkpoint set up on Nablus-Tulkarem access road. The detainee was dragged to an unidentified destination by the occupation patrols.

At the same time the IOF stormed a home belonging to the Palestinian citizen Mohamed Saba’na in Jenin’s town of Qabatiya before they kidnapped the house owner and aggressively attacked his family.

Clashes flared up in the area where the heavily-armed occupation troops attacked Palestinian anti-occupation youths with randomly-unleashed spates of teargas canisters and sound bombs. A series of ambushes was set by the IOF in the process.

The Israeli soldiers also pitched a flying checkpoint at the main entrance to Muthalath al-Shuhada town and cracked down on Palestinian farmers on their way to Qabatiya. Another checkpoint was spotted on the access road to Yabad.

Meanwhile the IOF broke into Qalqilya’s eastern town of Azzun and rummaged into over 30 Palestinian homes in the area.

The sweep culminated in the abduction of the Palestinian youth Mo’men al-Qawasmi from his family home in al-Khalil and the mother of Palestinian youngster Youssef Salah from Bethlehem’s town of al-Khader.

Other Israeli army troops also showed up in al-Jalazoun refugee camp northeast of Ramallah.
