Clashes arrests near al-Aqsa Mosque

Tuesday 18-July-2017

Clashes renewed on Tuesday between the Israeli police and Jerusalemite worshipers who still refuse to enter al-Aqsa Mosque through the metal detectors set up at its gates the PIC reporter said.

A number of Jerusalemites were reportedly arrested in arbitrary arrest campaigns launched in the Palestinian neighborhoods adjacent to al-Aqsa Mosque.

At least 50 Jerusalemites were injured on Monday evening in the violent confrontations that erupted at-al-Aqsa gates with the police forces in rejection of the latest Israeli measures.

Friday prayer at al-Aqsa Mosque was banned on 14th July following a shootout between three Palestinian youths and the Israeli police in the compound. Two Israeli officers in addition to the three Palestinians were killed.

A decision was issued later to close the Old City of Jerusalem and ban prayer at the Mosque until further notice for the first time since 1969. On Sunday the Israeli authorities started to reopen the site gradually after installing metal detectors at its gates which Muslim worshipers refused to pass through.
